Technology
Our office boasts all the latest in high-tech
dental equipment. We are one of the few offices in the world
that has its own in-house dental ceramic laboratory with two
full-time technicians. Having our own laboratory allows us
to make thin porcelain veneers that are natural and beautiful,
which means little or no grinding (and no shots) during your
procedure! Our cosmetic dentists also utilize laser-scans
to find any decay or weak spots before they cause a serious
problem.
We Use the Latest Technology
High technology is used throughout the office.
There are very small video cameras that are used to look inside
your mouth and let you, as well as the doctors, see what’s
going on. Computers are used to simulate what your smile would
look like with the changes before the work is actually done.

Cosmetic Imaging
Our cosmetic dentists have been using cosmetic
imaging in-house since 1986 and garnered national attention
when Jeanie Moos featured it on CNN. Cosmetic imaging is an
advanced technology designed to create a new smile, or a whole
new look, before a cosmetic procedure even begins.
Cosmetic imaging allows you to see what
you might look like with a different smile. It consists of
a computer, a monitor, and a graphics pad the dentist uses
to “draw” your new smile. Our cosmetic dentists
understand that everyone is different, so every patient is
allowed the opportunity to design his or her own “smile
personality” before deciding on the appropriate procedure.
During computer imaging, our cosmetic dentist takes a photo
of you and your smile and loads it into the special software.
A picture of your smile is brought up on the screen, and the
dentist fashions the look you desire on the monitor. If you
don't know exactly what you want, the cosmetic dentist will
create several different looks for you to “try on”
so you can decide which one you like best.
Computer imaging is also an excellent tool
for EXTREME MAKEOVERS because
it can modify other features of your face, including reducing
the size of your nose or erasing wrinkles. Most of the plastic
surgeons our dentists work along side use this technology.
This allows our cosmetic dentists to create a smile to see
approximately what you will look like after your cosmetic
procedure is complete.
Dr. Scott Coleman is an accredited member of the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry. The Houston dentist has become renowned for his dental work on numerous beauty contestants and winners and media personalities. Worried about cost? Don't be! We have patients that travel here from all over the country because our cosmetic dentistry costs dramatically less than it does in other big cities. Patients can fly here, get quality cosmetic dentistry, and fly home with money to spare!
An example of the ability to change smiles that can have a dramatic affect for an individual is the following case. A local model wanted to see how different smiles would change her facial appearance. Several different styles were created to see which style would achieve the look she was interested in.

The natural look in this case has spacing and very rounded edges it is a very youthful look.
-
Look number two is the Sporty Look. "The cuspids are more pointed and the teeth are more square," Dr. Coleman notes.
-
Executive look calls for "harder lines, where the teeth are square and even, and you have a very full, Farrah Fawcett smile. When everything is even, it's an older look."
-
For the final go-round the Glamour Look, where the laterals are shorter, softer rounded … a more delicate smile.
"Typically, women want all their teeth the same length," says Dr. Coleman. "When they come in, that's what they usually ask for, because models look that way. We tell them it's actually a more masculine look for most, but if that's what they want, that's what we give them."
It was quite a project, but the photography session showed her exactly how she looked with each type of bonding. (And who said dentists never have any fun?)
